As we prepare for the Second Session of The Maine Basketball League (TMBL), we want to share important scheduling details, tournament information, and league updates. There is a lot of information below, so please read carefully and share with parents and players as needed.

Keeping everyone informed helps tremendously, as many common questions are answered here.

Second Session Scheduling Information

January 3–4

The second half of the regular season begins.
✔ The schedule for this weekend is complete.
✔ Simonds Cup games this weekend are part of the second-half schedule.

January 10–11 and January 18–19

The final two weekends of the regular season.
We expect to release this schedule by Wednesday, December 31.

Double-Elimination Tournament Dates

January 24–25

First Round of the Double-Elimination Tournament
✔ All teams playing the full season will play at least one game this weekend.

January 31 – February 1

Second Round of the Tournament
✔ All teams will play this weekend.

February 7

Completion of Quarterfinal and Semifinal games
✔ Only advancing teams will participate (approximately 100 teams).

February 8 – Championship Sunday

✔ Championship games for all divisions will be played on this day
✔ Includes any “if necessary” games
✔ We promise to try to get everyone home in time for the other championship game happening that evening

Simonds Cup Information

The Simonds Cup brackets are available and we are excited to introduce this new addition to the league.

Important details:

• All Simonds Cup Champions will receive:
  • A team trophy
  • An individual Simonds Cup trophy for each player
• All games will be officiated by two board-certified officials
• Admissions will be charged, similar to playoff weekends, to offset additional costs
  • Admission: $6

Simonds Cup 2026 T-Shirts

We are accepting pre-orders only for Simonds Cup 2026 T-Shirts.

• Cost: $15 per shirt
• Shirts will include participating teams listed on the back
• A minimum of 100 shirts is required to place the order
• No payment is required until the order is finalized

Rosters & Waivers

A final roster check will be completed after the first weekend of the Second Session.

Please ensure:

• All players have completed their waivers
• If you are unsure, email us and we can confirm what we have on file for your team

Town Team Championships Return

The Town Team Championships, hosted by Maine Hoops, will once again work in conjunction with TMBL.

Key details:

• League Champions receive a discounted entry fee of $100
• If three or more teams register from the same youth organization, an additional $50 discount applies
• This event is a State Qualifier for the New England Championships
  • 📍 Providence, RI
  • 🗓 March 14–15

If you plan to participate, please register for the Maine Hoops Town Team Championships.
If you believe your team may become a League Champion, you may wait to submit payment.

Important Notes:

• This event is for Town/City teams only
• AAU or Club teams are not permitted unless all players are from the same community
• Tournament format:
  • Pool Play → Single-Elimination Gold or Silver Bracket
  • All ability levels welcome
  • 3-game guarantee, with most teams playing 4 games
  • Top two teams in the Gold Division earn a “Golden Ticket” to the New England Championships
